Thoughtful Thursday: Policing

Thoughtful Thursday post #1:

(Each Thursday we will post a question meant to problem solve, start communication and most of all force us to THINK. Please respond with love and respect for our fellow members and let’s brainstorm and discuss TOGETHER. Besides we never know who is watching✊🏾✊🏾)

A few days ago a post was shared on the history of policing in America. The origin of American policing was to maintain the institution of slavery through slave catching. The history of slave catching has created a violent and oppressive relationship among black people and the police. In modern day America, too often we see our black and brown brothers and sisters lose their life to police brutality. So my thoughtful questions for you guys this BEAUTIFUL Thursday morning are::

What serious and specific changes would you like to see in the Erie police department?

How can we get more black and brown police officers on the force?
